Human

I found a soul unexpectedly, scribbling in reverse-speak on the backside of an Edelweiss petal. Longingly it wrote in broad strokes, painting down along the curves of the flower until it's hand reached the edge and went plummeting off the side, dragging the chalk white silhouette with it. Like bone to glass, it rapped against the bramble and thorns, jack knifing through a treeless forest until it landed at the curve of my toes. Edelweiss shifted in the wind to bring a cool dimness overhead, as the soul melted quietly in shadow.

A cyan sky played wind pool with clouds as they crashed and reformed like tide waves on the sun. I know what I want, I want you with me, to be alone beneath a star where rain could never go.

If I am so soulless
then I am ungrateful
and determined to reconcile
with that which draws the heart
and colors blood
in the warmth of red

So ungrateful are we both
to have taken it for granted
for Edelweiss would have surely
given it a home.

well i love the imagery throughout, especially the textures and shapes and colors. i get a good sense of setting and mood. but, i don't know if i understand the whole piece, i get some of it but i'm almost positive i'm missing the main point. if you want to explain that would be helpful, haha. anyways, nice job even if i can't grasp all of it.

    thanks for entering
