Searching For the Words To Say

Sometimes I feel inspired
sometimes not.
Handful of feathers?
That inspires me...

  "Once upon a midnight dreary
While I pondered weak and weary..."

Wait a damn minute.
That seems familiar somehow
Let me start anew...

"It was the best of times.
It was the worst of times..."

Shit!
I think I read that somewhere too.
Oh wait, here's an interesting thought...

"Now is the winter of our discontent..."

Okay,
this is getting ridiculous!
Surely there's a great opening line that
waits yet for me to use.
Think, dammit, Think...

"There once was a girl from Nantucket..."

NO!No!No!No!No!

funny and cute, i don't really see this as a poem per say but still witty and fun to read. isn't it weird when all you can think of has already been said?

    thank you for the entry,
    cassidy

What a clever piece, I laughed out loud (thereby startling my co-worker)! I can so relate to this, often I hear a phrase that I wish I had thought of first - all the good ones seem to be taken! Amusing.

    Superb

Cools, I recognized each and every quote you used, and felt the last one gave this poem a great touch of humor. Thanks for sharing. Let's see, the first was from Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven"; and in a moment I'll get the exact title for the next one: "A Tale of Two Cities", by Charles Dickens, and the third was from: "Richard the III by Wm Shakespeare. Hmm.. shall I try for the last one?
