Standing on the levee
Watchin' the water overflow
Swamp water's on the rise again
And there is no place left to go
If you catch the last reprise
Down to Morgan's Point
For ten cents down and a whisky shot
You can really bust up the joint
Now don't you cast a spell on me
I told the gypsy queen
I've been up to the levee
An' I'm off down to New Orleans
So cast your bones among the straw
It don't make a difference now
I don't believe in god anymore
Makes no difference anyhow
So I'll watch the tide a-rising
Standing up on the levee bank
Got my suitcase packed beside me
With out a goodbye or any thanks
I told the barman watch out
Because the flood is gonna come
An' he just whispered to the drunks
Christ! we've got another one...
