Death's Horse

Wandering through the dark streets
Alone and lost
Searching for something to love
Death travels through the city
Spreading chaos wherever he steps

Hidden in the shadows
A black creature lurks
Eyes dulled from years of use
Emaciated, ribs protruding
A once prized possession

Grew to old to ride
A damp paddock to call a home
Inescapable, left to perish
No family could be traced
Alone in this big world

Stories so much alike
Death took this tragically beautiful beast
Under his skeletal wing
Saved this horse from his misery
Led him away to his rundown home

Death and nag traveling
Together across the endless valleys
Finally they each found family
Companions in all their future glories
A horse for Death has been discovered

Sounds like an interesting fantasy tale, but it feels like something is missing. It does not grab me. It should make me want to read on and on, also though it is not rhymed, it does not flow well. I think with just a little reflection and work and can be beautiful.
