Myself
I have come to be
that which I never dreamed possible
The joining of man and woman made me
But in many ways I have made myself
Triumph and tragedy
love and lust
what then have I if only flesh
and blood compose this man
there is thought and word
a way to live within my mind
that can touch and tease, hurt
and make one think on this poet’s life
but is that yet what makes me….me?
ne’er have I walked the moon
but alas, many a star have I wished upon
I am no surgeon
But I have held a woman’s heart tenderly
Alcohol does not make me numb
For too many of life’s pains can be written
Even when lips and tongue will slur
Yes,
A poet I shall always be
bleeding life and all that I
and humanity
Sees
Tastes
Feels
and Wants
flow from hands
