between us stars
no two are alike
and even the ones
up above
sometimes need to fake it
the ones down here
have to fight a lot harder
to get to where they need to be
like firefly
and light
push through
the atmosphere
of all that is around me
only to end up
the other side of the same place
pace myself
now a days
no reason to stay hurrying
to get to where i am
again
faking it with the best
or the beast
speculation from the peanut gallery
is tiresome to thoughts
when my day comes
lie down my wings
turn off my light
and pray
that there is something
brighter
Author notes
his contest is based on the short Robert Frst poem, "Fireflies in the Garden".
Fireflies in the Garden
Here come real stars to fill the upper skies,
And here on earth come emulating flies,
That though they never equal stars in size,
(And they were never really stars at heart)
Achieve at times a very star-like start.
Only, of course, they can't sustain the part.
So are you a star,
or a firefly...such a question

Our faith is flower of wing unfurled
brow to wipe in humid world,
scented candle dancing home
to artist weaving heaven's throne...
thanks so much for this wonderful entry
