Alone In Death, But Never Dead

Missing image
Alone in this unending hour,
my thoughts orbit through
slideshows of my soul
in double time

my heart
-lingers-
On the other side;

  a lover left behind
wades through the tides
    of howling wolves
    yearning to be held again

deep beneath the rocks,
compacted clay, and sediment
I still shine on
knowing I will return one day
for I am the immortal sun

Author notes

Prompt:
"Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.”

~Oscar Wilde
