“Don’t say that!
You’ll go to Hell!
Don’t do that,
Or I will tell
God that you’ve been BAD!”
“Read the Book!
Believe the Word!
Accept the Book,
Pretend you haven’t heard
Those voices in the night!”
To be continued
Author notes
Religious people are afraid of going to hell
Spiritual people have already been there!

Ever Questing
This resonates strongly with me, coming as I do from a fundamentalist background. You strongly echo that recurring cant of the fearful whose spirits seek shelter in conformity and blind faith.
...but don't fail to have a good laugh at them now and then to keep your perspective. An example: In the musical "Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," the chorus sings to the wayward orphan "You better learn your readin', and you better read your Bible or you'll never get to Heaven 'cause you won't know how." Joyfully,
~Falstaff
