A blaze of light between the leaves falls
Quickly to the ground,
And on the grass the sunlight weaves its
Patterns all around.
A luscious scene of greenery
With butterflies on wing,
Brings a sense of love to me,
As all the birds do sing.
My little feet run quickly by,
As chase the songs I do,
And then by climbing trees I try
To catch the insects too.
A happiness within my veins.
I lived in fruitful time.
Without a sense of any chains
That now I feel are mine.
A warmth beneath the Forrest trees
Reminds me of this day,
As through the leaves I hear the breeze
Of childhood, far away.

Beautifully done! I wrote one similar.."To Childhood"..but it doesn't have the perfect meter that yours does. Great read..thanks for sharing!

I think this is beautiful and written from the heart.

nostalgic with emotion and longing for the freedom of childhood.
