The Witness

Tears will wash it away.

The empty bottle
shattered on stained linoleum.

Thundering fists cracking filthy walls.
Threats floating like Satan's ghosts.

Drinking

Shouting

Bruising

Uncontrollable Rage

Tears will wash it all away.

The witness's prayer...
a child's forgotten pain.


Author notes

I see so many cases where the child is the forgotten victim of a terrible situation, neglected and ignored. This picture reminded me of those children I see. May God bless all of them.

    Ohhh this is so sad! Brilliantly written.. but so sad! There are so many children in these situations.. breaks my heart!
