M'Lady's Keep

Missing image
'Twas mystical, serene m'empire
In thine window shines ample light
Due to seasonal calm, fall desire
One fortnight of genial plight

M'lady's garden; nude statues coy
Written yonder on scrolls; vile mad
Fleeting voices; gossips love the joy
'Bout current affairs born dead, sad

Whilst pacing behind her garden wall
Under velvet soft celestial skies
Hidden in m'heart desires stand tall
Hark! mansion m'lady doth not despise

Thou hast embraced thy erotic prize
Artistic flames dance 'pon innocent eyes

Author notes

mansion, fleeting, voice, celestial, empire, ample, genial, current, serene, born. from the poem "Elegy Written In A Church Yard" by Thomas Gray.

    beatifully written English sonnet....

I have an affection for old poetry, so this made me smile to read. Poetry from centuries passed will always endure in my heart. There was such beauty and wonder that has somehow gotten lost in modern days. It's nice to see poets keeping old poetry alive. You did very well here setting this romantic scene. Bravo!

solid rhyming, lovely image creation and has a timeless antiquity about it, really reaches out and pulls the reader back into the period of lords and ladies.
