Glittering all over
They were set in the market place
To sell.
So strong,
They glittered and hummed.
The angels got jealous.
Chopped
Into a million pieces,
A jewel of blood
Hated,
Whipped,
Twisted,
In the name of love.
A seldom-seen cloak of pity
An ocean of mislove.
Humans on the horizon
Digging a grave
Mothers and grandmothers
Ready for the journey
The weight of lonesomeness
Tight enough to choke
Creaked and cried
All night.
Author notes
OK, so this is a poem I wrote in my English class, we has to do this thing called a found poem, where you take a piece of writing [in this case the assignment was to use a passage from the book Their Eyes Were Watching God] and select words in it you like and use them to make a poem.
