This ring on my finger
It shows love and dedication
So why has it burned me before?
When I bought it, I looked skyward, it was raining
I slipped it on and walked out
Feeling like I was blessed
I flew home, it chained me
Staying loyal to a faded dream
Unable to escape, bound by the hands and heart that stand for love and dedication
What a fool I was, chained by the ring
Not able to remove it
Having the metal dictate my moods and feelings
Chasing dreams, shadows, flitting lights in the night
But I learned to live with it,
To tolerate it, rein myself in
Not chase dreams, to love and trust my friends and others
Where before I ignored them
I lurked in the shadows, had as little to do with them
Author notes
Last year, I bought a Claddagh ring for my birthday, as well as seeing Riverdance
Ya. Unfinished/random. I know
What do you think?
