Why I hide

*I need a place where I can hide where no one sees my life inside* the secret Garden

I like to hide behind some hidden mask
So no one sees my hurt
NO one sees my pain
I may be tough but I’m hurt easily
When I break I break form the inside, where I’m hidden
But now you’ve seen it
You’ve seen me crack
Like pavement on an old sidewalk
When I crack I’m hard to repair
I need to hide in some turtle shell
TO escape my everyday life
For it’s truly hell
Perfection my parents want
But there is no perfection in the world
But why do my parents want it
Because they have a disappointing son
And want me to make up for him
Now you’ve seen my pretty mask break
And me crack and I fear for me I’m not turning back
I won’t repair myself
I’ll just find another pretty mask
So my hurt doesn’t show
So I like to be hidden behind a mask
Behind the smoke and mirrors
It’s where I’m the best
I’m hidden behind a pretty mask to cover the hurt
Just don’t touch it again
I feel safe behind the pretty mask

*I need a place where I can hide where no one sees my life inside* the secret Garden

Well, Leigh we already knew why you hid, I suspected every one of these reasons because well I'm not inept. People think I don't pay attention, I've known you were depressed for a couple of months now way before any of this started. But believe it or not, there's actually something I do know about people and that is you have to back up and let them deal with problems on their own time. I did that, then you became angry with us all. Sorry but we're innocent, you can't blow up at us and expect us to take it sitting down. So we won't be. Go ahead try to find another pretty mask, go on. Try, I bet it will be see through because after this you won't be able to hid anymore.

Yes I see why you like to hide, but it's unhealthy to hide; especially our feelings. It's important to talk about them, which you certainly do well in your poetry. I always say, don't hide yourself; BE yourself. And don't sit on your feelings, let them out. Doing that through writing is a good first step. I'm sure as time passes, you'll manage to express yourself more verbally and that will help things get better. Meanwhile keep on writing.
