THE CEREMONY
I hate to admit this but it is true
after all, I am only human.
I really do not know anything about joining minds in
an eternal union nor do I know
exactly what will happen when your Soul meets with mine.
I am not exactly sure about this immortality thing either
however, if it is with you then I do not think it will be long enough.
This ceremony that we are going to go through tomorrow
the one where you say we will bond
I admit it is a mystery to me.
My mother fears a loss of personality with this bonding.
She says that she fears a blending of our souls until only one creature
will exist. She worries that after the bonding I will become something
totally unrecognizable to her.
I also admit to fear
however, a very different fear from what my mother has.
What I fear is the loss of you,
in an unmated pon farr
or even worse in an unloved marriage
with someone who does not understand your wonderful Soul.
In all the things that I do fear,
In all the things that I do not understand,
this I do know
that I can make you happy!
I know without a single doubt that you do make me happy.
Am I afraid of what will happen tomorrow?
No,
well not really.
I do not believe that my personality will be lost
nor do I believe that you are an unemotional, walking computer
as bones often describes you.
I know you are passionate
because when I am in your arms
and you are kissing me
I feel your passion
and I want more.
This is what I know will happen tomorrow.
Those wonderfully dark eyes of yours will meet mine.
Your warm gentle hands will settle upon the sides of my face
touching what you refer to as my ‘meld points.’
then I will look upon you and smile
accepting you with not only my heart but my Soul as well.
Then I will open my thoughts to you
you will then join us in the manner of your people.
Touching but never touched
Parted but never parted
from two we will create one.
So really, I am ready for tomorrow.
All I want is for you to come to me beloved
for without you I am not myself.
Without you, I am alone.
Without you, I am lost.
Come to me beloved
give me your gentle soul
as I willingly give, you mine.
Share with me your magnificent body,
your deliciously sweet lips,
and your fiery passions.
To you I make this promise
that I will cool those same flames when you burn.
With me my love, you will be forever safe
but most importantly my special one
you will be loved.
Now though as we stand here alone in my cabin
on the night before our bonding
there are no words that need to be spoken
just the touch of your gentle fingers
and the beating of my all to human heart.

your comment on my poem Ceremony
Yeah it is. But it also shows how much my people love and trust one another. A bonding ceremony. Marriage. Love. Trust. Respect. All wonderful things.
Thanks for the comment.

I love the honesty and reflection here. So many thoughts race through one's mind before such a day. Thank you for the journey of the mind in this entry.

Michellemybelle's comments on my poem ceremony
Yes, you are correct that a lot of different thoughts do race through your mind on your wedding day. It's a wonderful but very scarey day... a day that both ends and begins your life.
thanks for letting me know that you liked my poem.

Beautifully penned... I love that you remain you and see love as a way to make yourself more... not so much a completing as an adding to. Very personal - like the first person voice as though we're eavesdropping on your thoughts...
Well done!
