Let You Go

Missing image

Your life was very precious, please know, I love you so,
I never held your hand, but I had to let you go.

Not to share my world with you is my one regret
but you my little baby boy, I never will forget.

Never once to hold you near, here within my arms,
to feel your body close to me, alive with all your charms.

To see your eyes gaze into mine allaying all my fears
and kiss your cheeks so tenderly, to try and halt your tears.

To watch you grow, become a man, I know I’ll never do,
no chance at playing baseball, or have some fun with you.

You’re always here within my heart for ever and a day,
I know I’ll not forget you though asleep you’ll always stay.

So hush my precious baby boy, Daddy’s by your side,
you only have to call to me,  I’ll say your name with pride.

    Amazing

A well earned piece of your heart. Losing a child before or at birth is an experience I share with few because most do not understand. This poem touched me in a place I rarely discuss. Thank you for being braver than I could be.

Few poems actually make me cry. You found my soft spot and drove a spike into it. Beautiful!

This is such a beautiful poem. You have portrayed my regrets that I still feel to this day. I'll never have had the opportunity to do all the things a father should do with thier child.

The poem itself is awesome. Your flow is great and the rhyme is flawless. You really set the mood for the poem well with the somber colors and using the photo of my godson was a great touch.

Thank You so much for writing this poem. Thanks for entering it in my contest and good luck.
