dying with the truth
always preferrable to
living with a lie
Author notes
Mark Twain wrote an essay on truth in which he asked why nuns told a woman her daughter had recovered from her illness when she had actually died. The circumstance was that the woman was gravely ill and they were afraid the stress of the truth might kill her. Twain asked why it was ok to lie at any time. In his mind truth is eternal and irrevokable. I agree with him. Better to die with truth than live with lies.

I agree.... if only it was so easy...

You haven't penned a haiku in awhile. This is profound and true. Know I know why you asked me about lies.

Well, with this write you've opened up a wonderful debate on the pro's and con's of being truthful always. I don't think it is humanly possible to tell the truth at all times. I'm not saying this right, but after the age of two we've already been introduced to the art of fibbing. I once had a young man ask me out on a date. He was black. When I said, no, he replied, "is it because of my skin color?" I said, yes, my mama would kill me. I was truthful, and it hurt him something awful...and made me feel just as bad because I truly liked him. I think you will get quite a few great comments on this little haiku of yours. As always, I do love how you stir up the mind...

So, are your comments reversely proportional to the size of my poems? Big ones get no comment, medium ones get one or two words, and teeny ones get a book? Interesting... What exactly, are you trying to tell me? Ha ha ha.

That when one has no barrier on lies spread and said, that theres usually a mountain to be said. I dont know, really. Could it be true? Long messages to cover up,
who the heck knows. Is this one getting long??? Oh well. This was a great piece. powerful dear one, powerful
