I wake up and wonder which way to go
What should I do today
There is just so much where do I start
Honestly! I don't know
I start a little here and then there
And then back to here
I wander from room to room aimlessly
Achieving nothing at all
Theres lots of work, meetings to prepare
Ironing to be done
Washing piled in the laundry baskets
Dishes to be washed
But none of it gets done at all
I just move along
from one pile of urgent matters
to the next pile
And now it's time to do the school run
I drive there alone
The children are in, back in traffic
We just flow home
So another day of being swept along
Overwhelmed again
I made the tea, and then went to bed
To face another day
In a list

"Worn".
I would love to see some, you know...imagery in this. Honestly, just telling me what you're doing ("I start a little here and then there") gets old real quick. -

the word selection for the contest was 'drift' not worn, but i guess worn would have fit too, but it was 'drifting through the day' that is trying to capture.

Worn?
I guess that beacuse this piece had a sense of urgency that would wear one down quite a lot.
Interesting piece really. It wrapped up quite nicely. It almost seemed to be building to something so amazing and then it just ended. -
You captured very well the ennui that so easily settles into day-to-day life. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're making other plans." That's life. I've been planning to write the great American novel, learn how to play the guitar better, develop a Herculean physique, sign a five-movie deal with Paramount, and end world hunger forever (among other things.) I just never get around to it! Ah well, there's always tomorrow.
