Fool's Journey

I've climbed the hill with no roads
On the cloudless day of old lions;
I don't need water, I don't need warmth
Just the air to sustain my vision.

I've come in search for the blood of eternal youth
To overthrow the hours and the days.

This journey is not a quest
It is an occupation:
Born from madness
Leading into obsession.

(Sound familiar?)

As I cut through dead weed
With the knife that died this morning,
I hear laughter from glistening lips;
I have to push on.

("Am I still shining?")

Voices trickle from my sweat,
Is there any truth in memories?

I see a face as white as youth itself
My heart is too tired to be enthralled
But I laugh like a maniac,
Eyes closed.

Do you know what I'm thinking?
You'll never learn I have no thoughts.

I just want to feel your chest
As it inhales my fables,
And feel its every pulsation
To embrace my meddley of starvation.

("Such a great afternoon")

Still you laugh on...

Your touch of gold, makes clear my obsession:
Is there no such blood to be found?
Is this a fool's journey?
Self-destruction around every corner.

Dear I see you sinking
From my drowned vantage point.

You'll never hear me
Because your soul is given
To the end of the week.
So the devil will dream on.

(Will I ever see you as you're seen in such dreams?)

If I come back down,
Would you still wait for me round the bend?
Or should I see this journey through,
Let it slowly dry me of all my tears?

Show me the salvation of your skin
That teases from behind a spotted veil.

I need to know
I need fruition...
Yet all your sinking lips
Can say...

"Am I still shining?
Am I still shining?"

Let my tase answer you.

The journey is yet to end...

  • there are some wonderful and powerful lines in this piece and I am still thinking over your words. i love the declaration and the way it just holds a sense of personal feeling to it. well done
  • Some great lines in there, my favorite segment is:

"I just want to feel your chest
    As it inhales my fables"

but I also really liked the declaration that this was not a quest, but an occupation. Puts me in mind of something beyond, that the path you are on is in your blood, your destiny.

It seems a bit long for a song (your categories say lyrics) but then, some songs are! One typo - medley should only have one "d" and I think near the end - "tase" - was that to be taste?

    Intriguing piece!

  • been about this little dream or two... does sound familiar weather physical or otherwise, the seclusion contains illusion and so the moist poignant question, is there any truth to memory? the filters and effects keep getting greater and more distant, for you were also part adult in youth, and wilder the imagening and cross to vioce is quite effective as so the centre sun which might rule the face and so truth, indeed the journey might never end until there is true shadow and karma answers you oasis...

    VERY SUGGESTIVE

lots of excellent imagery in this poem i lovethe theme of it too a quest for the the blood of eternal youth.the salvation of your skin; brilliant line.as also is the part about selling your soul to the end of the week.some parts are a bit too confusing though;a cloudless day fo old lions ??? aknife that dies???still I really enjoyed it.
