Enchained in Time

Visions materialize within my mind
recalling lost days of glory
when honor was a virtue shared by men
and beauty stretched
as far as the mortal eye could see.
Warm fragrant breezes ,
carrying the scent of jasmine and wild rose ,
filling the air
Then, love a was precious treasure to be shared ,
not used as a vicious sword ,
brandished in the wrong hands,
to cut the soul, causing it to bleed,
My heart weeps for thee
As now enchained in a world
where worth is weighed in riches
and beauty is locked away
within the pages of fading books
Here the air hangs heavy ,
like the stench dragons breath
As flowers  wither and die,
giving way to fields of concrete

Voices echo within the heart
why dost thou linger in such a place ?

Striking! I liked it very much... You truly know beauty... I liked the end best... This was truly impressive, you are gorgeous... I enjoy old language and that truly gives it a wonderful flavour...

Amazing! Beautiful! However, it is sadly true. I love how you bring the pains of finding pure love to life while giving it kind of a Lord of the Rings feel.

very deserving of gold. This is a beautiful write. I prefer rhyme most of the time, but give everything a chance and I'm so glad I clicked on this. Grand job and congratulations on the gold. I understand why.

    Congratulations on the Golden Chalice!!!

Excellent imagery and luscious background! Although some sad truths are spoken here... Yet I love your muse's fine metaphoric surrealism playing in the darkening light of the ages, Poet!! Congrats again, from my heart!!! Peace, Cyn

this was a very sad and dark yet amazingly created piece.. If only we knew the answer then would we move on? or would we just find something else to linger over? would our souls be at rest? This was full of pain in many ways.. Yet full of a "new" insight as well.. You did such a wonderful job.. Thank you very much for sharing this beauty with us..

It is very beautiful and darkly sad, why do we linger? Probably because there is no where else to go, we can't go back we have to lookf forward and hope the soul we need has followed from that life to this. Love, C

Or perhaps it lingers because the soul fears what mess might befall it in the next life, if this is what it has now ~Bret~

Souls fear nothing, they can move on when the earthly body dies, they are eternal. Only the mind and body can stay where it is no longer wanted. We have to want the adventure to find the light. Love, C
