Choosing Politicians - Ian
Election time comes now and then you know it by the hype
For suddenly elected ones will listen when you gripe,
The flashy ads begin to show on everyone’s TV
They seek to show that honesty is only them and me
They trot out their statistics and assure they’ve served us well,
We hear them praise self frequently for no one else can tell
The good things they can do for us if we would vote them in,
And they’d make us quite prosperous they tell with pleasant grin
Of course their main opponents then will tell us with a sigh
That if you vote for honest Jack you’ll kiss good times goodbye!
You’ll wallow in despondent grief when lifestyle hits the rocks,
Economy in freefall and expecting market shocks
And by the time they’ve said their piece confused us with their talk
You’ve got a massive headache and you need to take a walk,
Election time is coming up you need to get it right
And all they’ve really done for you is give you such a fright
You make it to the polling booth still wondering who to choose,
You’ve worked up much anxiety you think you’ll blow a fuse,
They issue you a paper two feet deep and ten feet wide
You pause to look with wonder at the honest Jacks inside
And then a half hour later you retreat from voting place
The newshounds are lined up to read the vote on every face
To rush it to the news stands their predictions grace front page
And it’s discussed on radio remarked on theatre stage
No matter how you’ve thought it out and carefully made a choice
The wrong guys make the finish line you find you’ve lost your voice,
To solve the nations problems and you learn to your alarm
You don’t select who’ll do you good but who’ll do you least harm

BRAVO BRAVO!!!!
Absolutely brilliant!! I believe that you have reached into the inner thoughts of every man and woman and brought to words what we are all thinking everyday as of late! Powerfully stated, "You don’t select who’ll do you good but who’ll do you least harm"
I believe that 100%...we often lose sight of what is really there and look past our true "first impression" of ones that seem to believe they are faultless and flawless as well!! Thank you for sharing this honest and in your face piece of artistry!!

Choosing Politicians
Yes I think we all get fed up with the hypocracy of our election hopefuls on all sides of the political divide.
