Linda and I
played music for you
the last Mother's day
you were with us.
'I Will Remember You'
and
'Angel' by Sarah McLachlin.
Her voice spoke for us
when we could not speak
through our tears.
Just weeks later
we played them again
at your funeral
and for years after
I would have to change stations
when I heard the opening chords.
Today I feel your presence
for you are my angel now.
You've sent your healing light
and joy has once again returned.
I sing out loud to those two songs
and know you're smiling down.

*Sigh* This is beautiful! The image itself is so very moving... Those are two songs that still keep me in tears, but now it is with a smile that I sing them. Thank you so much for your entry!

and still
she will hum to you a lullaby
when you need comfort
and smile along with you
after
you've cried
