Slow down

I remeber when I was a true kid
Not having to worry about anything but myself
Outside every second of the day
Not coming in unless it was time for bed
I was always told to slow down
Don't grow up too fast
But I didn't listen
I grew up anyway
I started listening to what was happening in politics
And even caring about what other people think
What have I done
The world I live in is surrounded in doubt and hate
And nothing I can do can change all that
I'm caught in a life that I cannot control
And my parents tell me even today that I'm going to miss being a kid
Now I know that I'm only 14
But the only response to that statement would have to be
I already do

Its insane how well I relate to this, my parents say the same thing and I think the same thing. You captured the emotion perfectly. Best of luck!
