The Drums

The drums beat

the rhythm

carries our prayers

the Great Spirit Father

He hears

The flute plays

notes carry

on Spirit wind

he flows

Our footsteps tread

walk the path

Across Mother Earth

she cradles us

The drums are our story

they beat to the

rhythm of life

Warning of danger

Carrying prayers

Played in celebration

Curators of Heritage

The awakening

of the drum

signifies the

Gathering of Nations

    You've Been Hoodwinked!

This is a wonder remebrance of a pow wow, and the essence of mother earth among the sights and sounds you see and feel. I always enjoy your Native American poetry so much.

This is a joyous poem, Tammy. It speaks to us all, carrying the message of the drum. Indian or not, this is a poem I think we can all relate to, take heart in its feeling.
