What is a Man?

What is a man?

is he the logic and cold steel of his mind?
is he his anger, burning brightly inside.
is he the loneliness and heartache,

is the the foolish one,
following his hearts intent

What is a man

If we all knew what or who we are, there would be no point in experiencing, growing, learning...

But you already knew that. As always, a sincere write derived from what I can only assume was a state of loss and questioning of identity.

And to live up to my typo-finding self...line 5 may have a tiny little one...

"is the the foolish one," = is he the foolish one ?

Anyways...you better get back to writing, Mister...I always loved to read your work. Still do.

Here you go .. to narrow it down, I only put the most appopriate definitions.

man [man] noun, plural men, verb, manned, man·ning, interjection
    –noun
    1. an adult male person, as distinguished from a boy or a woman.
    3. the human individual as representing the species, without reference to sex; the human race; humankind: Man hopes for peace, but prepares for war.
    5. a husband.
    6. a male lover or sweetheart.
    7. a male follower or subordinate: the king's men. He's the boss's number one man.
    9. a male having qualities considered typical of men or appropriately masculine: Be a man. The army will make a man of you.
    10. a male servant.
    13. an enthusiast or devotee: I like jazz, but I'm essentially a classics man.
    14. Slang. male friend; ally: You're my main man.
    17. one of the pieces used in playing certain games, as chess or checkers.
    20. the man, Slang.
    Also, the Man.

    –verb
    23. to strengthen, fortify, or brace; steel: to man oneself for the dangers ahead.

    27. be one's own man, a. to be free from restrictions, control, or dictatorial influence; be independent: Now that he has a business he is his own man.
    b. to be in complete command of one's faculties: After a refreshing nap he was again his own man.

SOOOOooo - to sum it up -
a man is a male of the species, it is the species as a whole, it is a husband, a lover, a servant, the sum of all things masculine, a passionate person, a friend, a piece to be used in games, it is THE man, it is something that makes one strong, and it is individuality.
Which of these meanings a particular man takes onto himself varies .. but the most important thing to remember when you are worried about being manly ... check that last definition again - that's they key.

Is this a rhetorical question? Because in all honesty a man in my eyes is someone who doesn't turn away when most would. I have seen men and I have seen foolish men but are they one in the same. I can not say. Your words as always bring new thoughts to the mind but what I can say that like many other questions no matter who answers it its up to you to make your own opinion becuase thats what matters. This is stemmed with heartache and truth I can not imagine who questioned you thus or how this came to be... But remember who throws the rock into the wind.
Yet I beleive you answered your own question in the second to last line. 'following his hearts intent' may I add 'no matter the cost'
