Just waiting For Something

Sam Beckett’s waiting for Godot,
Jimmie Rodgers is waiting for a train
Frankenstein’s waiting for Igor
To bring back the healthy brain
The prospector’s down in his goldmine
He's hoping to stake his claim
Noah’s parked in the desert with his Ark
He’s just waiting for the rain

Everybody’s got something on their mind
Everybody’s got something on their mind
Something they left behind or someone they hope to find
Everybody’s got something on their mind

Moses is standing up on his rock
Waiting to part the Red Sea
Buddha’s waiting for Nirvana
Sitting underneath his Banyan tree
Nelson’s got his telescope to his blind eye
Wondering why he can’t see
Old John Brown’s justa mouldering in his grave
Wondering why the slaves still aren’t free

Everybody’s got something on their mind
Everybody’s got something on their mind
Something they left behind or someone they hope to find
Everybody’s got something on their mind

Sam and Jimmy are still waiting
They’re not ready to quit
Frankenstein’s trying out the brain
Wondering why it just don’t fit
The prospector’s got a pile of fool’s gold
He just wants to spit
Noah’s been forty days with all those animals
He's up to his knees in-----

Everybody’s got something on their mind
Everybody’s got something on their mind
Something they left behind or someone they hope to find
Everybody’s got something on their mind

Author notes

I've really no idea where or when this song was born- it spent a long time without the middle verse and I was never happy with it- not too sure how happy I am with it now!! Bit of enjoyable nonsense.

It's sounds like one of those songs that would get caught in your head and you would play it all day in your head while thinking of stuff that it reminds you of
