A Mothers Love

We begin in life
as the faintest movement
felt only by you

and we are held
as close... as we may ever be
within your womb

you are always
the first face
of all our memories

and we grow
in the shadow
of your unending love

in time
we become
a reflection... of your care

you are
our first words
and all we adore

to be held by you
is everything warm
we love our mommies

and we live
for your sweet smile
as your blessed,  baby child

we strive
to make you love us
more... with pride each day

and carry
your lessons
throughout our lives

and someday when we die
we leave life
with the love you taught

remembering
your face
and tender tears... of strife

for the one we loved
that gave us.. our life

You do certainly have a gift for using your words to melt our hearts. I thought tenderly and kindly of my mom while reading these words. For that I thank you.

I always wanted to write something for my mother but never knew where to find the correct words that can give her what she deserves. You wrote this so beautifully, it made my heart melt as I thought of my own mother and all she tried to do/give to me. Your writes reflect your tender heart, I guess.
    Thank you for sharing this.

    Love
    ~Noor

      Hi Sunlight

Who but us, can know our inner soul
but I always write from life, in verse.

I know, some emotions are universal
Love of parents and children are one

So is the love between men and women which I write of
but only a woman, can truly know and feel this verse

Thank you for the three Smilies, Rick

  • Beautifully written poem. Thank you for sharing it with all Mothers and Mother's to be. Take care of you and God Bless you.

  • So nice to read this again, a wonderful tribute to mothers, to your mother and the love she instilled in you. She must have been a saint, Bob and you were quite mischievious! I bet she saw the humor in it and loved you for your ever active mind.
Thanks for honoring all mothers on this day.

      Morning Michelle

My mom was the sweetest women I ever knew
We should all be as kind as her in life

Before she died, she told me I was her favorite
but I think she told us all, the same.

A mother has a special bond with their child
that I believe, a father can never have
because we come from their body

That is the thoughts of this verse

      To all moms I say...
      Happy Mothers Day

Thank you for you sweet comment to me

      Love, Rick

    Wow!

This write has touched my heart so deeply. You have penned a beautiful poem here! There really is nothing like the love I feel for my children. They are more precious to me than anything else in the whole world. This brings me to tears; tears of joy and sorrow. Joy for my sons, and sorrow for the absence of my own mother in my life. This is an incredible tribute to all mothers. Blessings, Patty

I shall never be a mother myself, but I can imagine the bond to a child also!

There is nothing like a mothers love....
    except perhaps a fathers love...
who is equal to the mothers if they are both done in the compassion of the spirit of love...

    nicely composed....

I liked your comment and the carring thought
I my mind, men and women love their children differently
and a woman has an additional care, in that this child
came from her body directly in birth
The gender is varient, as well

      Pleased you liked my words

Love there is that four letter word that I strive for even with my own children. I strive so hard to do what is right, and within my power. My mother was not a compassionate person, I on the other hand vowed never to become like her. I have surpassed my dreams, but the violence that has happened in my life and my chilrens was something I now wish they have never witnessed. I keep trying, and falling. But someday as mother's of their own I hope they will understand. That I have always loved them the most.

Thank you for sharing this with me Rick...I needed that today 's

    Rick,

What a beautiful read for all mothers to see. This is truly beautiful!! I wish I could fully relate to this one, but not being raised by my mom, it is a bit difficult to understand all you speak of.

    Great job on this one..
