Sleepy Eyed George

Missing image

Don't you just love it when you got nothing to lose
No time for worry, just too lay around and snooze.
Well I'd think about catching me a mousy for tea,
Oh, but hunting's hard work and I'm so very lazy.

Now mama's got fish frying, handed out on a plate
So I'll lay here in the sunshine and patiently wait.
I'm happy and content to watch the birdies fly by
Cat napping and dozing I can watch with one eye.

Life can be traumatic, the days filled with hassle
I'm a master rat catcher and the king of the castle.
This garden is my palace, but it's riddled with fear
I need to keep watch in case intruders come near.

Once was a hedgehog who slithered down my path
He resembled a scrubbing brush, I just had to laugh.
So I gave him a nuzzle and a little push with my paw
He gave me his fleas and his prickles made me sore.

I slide on my tummy just like a snake in long grass
No, nothing gets by me, I don't let anything pass.
I'm a soldier, I'm a warrior and this kingdom is mine
I'm patrolling this garden come rain or come shine.

So, won't you give me a break and let me chill out
And when mama's fried that fish, give me a shout.

Cats may well be the most entertaining animal! They certainly do what they wish in their own time and space...generally. Your cat has eyes to match his fur! He does look sleepy, too contented to hunt. He'll wait for that fish...

    The cats meow!

    Your poem, very feline fine,
a joy to read each feline line.
I like the flow, I like the rhyme,
reminds me of those cats of mine.

Even without the photograph I knew this was a charming poem of a cat. Totally different characteristics to a dog.
I enjoyed reading this very much, have you read it to George?
