In a company of women
both laughter and tears
share texture.
Through the art of a movement,
lips and eyes
cast ripples lightly-
skimmed pebbles that never
sink
but dance
through shallows of quiet stone
water.
Someday,
each folded ready, they drift
upon depth,
that vault within,
that space accepting
of endless rest
at centre
where all shores touch
a single sea.
Author notes
For all those women, who with grace and fairness have welcomed me into their space. Especially those sisters who wear evil pants.
Thank you

"In a company of women"
Our own mysterys indeed, to ourselves and to each other.
"Through the art of a movement"
I thought about this one statement for a very long time. Sometimes things just hit me like that. Reading it over and over, it held such vast implications but also so demure.
We are slight of hand, and brushed frond touches, cast iron and the devil's red.
You built a mystery indeed Katydid...

Two phrases slip their hands beneath my lapels:
"lips and eyes....cast ripples lightly- skimmed pebbles that never sink"
"that space accepting....of endless rest at centre ... where all shores touch a single sea."

"lips and eyes....cast ripples lightly- skimmed pebbles that never sink"
Makes you know that person who know already or whom you understand the meaning of longing ... a mere human to others ... immortal to you. Evocative.
"that space accepting....of endless rest at centre ... where all shores touch a single sea."
a peace imagined, a soul absorbed in being, not mere knowing but absorbed experience of collective being, where there are no voids in touching. hopeful.

how we touch is a mystery.... and just how we dash!

So very beautiful, such imagery created with minimal use of adjectives, the mood is warm and welcoming and I love the idea of dancing over and just under water, causing ripples to go out and hopefully hit that distant shore!

-
well done on the prompt...good imagery that lures the reader and makes the reader read it again as I did...great style, you own.
