In gentle wafts of summer time,
The scarlet songbird sings.
Of summer sun midst chorused chimes,
That summer sometimes brings.
Of sunny smiles within the eyes
Of children as they play.
Now sploshed upon by coloured dyes
Of Mr. Sunshine's rays.
These carefree hearts can whistle on
These kindred souls will stay.
Now given chance to gladly don
These smiles each summer day.
Let children laugh as songbirds sing
Let teardrops dry today.
Now for the way to ride her wings
Let sorrow fly away -
In gentle wafts of summer time.

Very nice rhyming with a cute child's innocence! I loved stanza 2! Best of luck and thanks for entering!

A good poem about the exploits of children during summertime. Rhyme and rhythm both very good, although it might be better to change plural to singular words at end line rhyme by changing the line around.
Example...Let children laugh as the songbird sings, you now have a rhyme with wings.
The idea of this series of contests is to help improve rhyming poets and their poetry and that is our aim. Should you need any help, just call.

Oh... This is really beautiful... I love the flow... And didn't even notice the rhyme the flow was so well done.
Excellent poem, and good luck in your contest
