I hadn’t seen you in years,
Thought of you in months,
I’m sorry I never noticed the slipping,
The blurring of existence
As you passed away.
I saw you after,
When you’d already gone,
You were cold, discoloured,
I hope you saw me too,
Realised that me not being there before
Wasn’t a slight against you.
We were just separated,
Seas and generations apart
I miss you,
Still I refuse to believe that
Death was witnessed that day
I saw only life lost,
And more still left behind,
Memories shared.
Living in those who will remember you,
Always.

This is always a hard thing to deal with especially when you have not seen them in a long time. i believe that you did a great job portraying this.
