across the
water blue, no
splash,
glide
as if
on ice,
sun
shines
upon the water reflecting hope
our laughter echoes the songs of nature,
watch feathers ruffled, cries of joy
being part of the scenery, picture
of happiness and youth, enjoying
the riverbank adorned by summer.
children eagerly watching the rowing boats compete with the swans,
oars... wings dipped into the water.
these regal creatures disturbed not
by the closeness of our voices, chunks
of bread cause ripples a flurry of feathers,
diving beaks beneath the water line,
tasting sharing the picnic prepared for us,
crusts
we don't
have to eat
today
a treat
shared
with the birds and
summertime
fun.
