Cannon fodder

you tell them what to do
and they please you
by following your orders
without thinking
because your rules
are easy to understand
your orders are easy to follow

you spare them the trouble of thinking
they will be loyal until their death
cannon fodder
for your ideologies
replaceable
by many more to come

Author notes

"Our state is an educational state ... it does not let a man go free from the cradle to the grave. We begin with the child when he is three years old. As soon as he begins to think, he is made to carry a little flag. Then follows school, the Hitler Youth, the Storm Troopers and military training. We won't let him go; when all is done, then comes the Labour Front, which takes over and does not let him go untl he dies, even if he does not like it."
- Robert Ley, head of the German Labour Front, quoted in 1944

He says "(...) even if he does not like it."
But those people were a minority. Many people believed Hitler's lies and followed his orders because that was easier.

A close friend of mine once said: "I would have been a good Nazi."
I think that sums it up very well.

Very good write, thought of National Socialism and then saw your author notes and the categories...
Mrs Otto is right, not everybody is like this, we tend to generalize, and I think she's right.
    Anyway great job.

This is really a very well written poem, that uses a great choice of words, that are not overused and cliche and t has soem factual meaning to it also. I really like that. Great work.

A poem that fills me with admiration for the young poet who penned it and also strikes at my heart as I recall history.

    Sadly

Europes vaste history is loaded with such stories. The Hilters, Stalins, Napoleans and Mussolinis. But now the greater threats come from tyrants in 3rd world countries. More cannon fodder

I am touched how you are sensitive to suffering and wise beyond your age ... you have so much courage, not like those who blindly obey, out of convenience ... your path is not an easy one, my sweet one, but I trust your protection by the One ...

    may He bless you always,
    marion
