or down the street
or in the next community,
we frequently meet and greet.
But cyber friends
across the nation,
over borders, over seas,
we greet with a special ovation.
No knock at the door,
no hug, no handshake,
but cyber communication,
a unique online give-and-take.
From words on the page,
we learn of personality,
share past-to-present experiences,
understand life in each person's reality.
Words fly back and forth,
tapped from keys to the page
or by a great cell phone plan,
opinions shared, both fun and sage.
Somewhere in the process
strong friendships are created,
each becoming an integral part of life,
sharing, caring, encouraging communicated.
On this day I choose to celebrate
a special day for a special friemd,
one who is wise, inventive and generous,
most deserving of any accolades that I send.
Celebrate friendship, for today is Leah's Day!
In a list
Words come alive when answered in kind.

Beautiful tribute and a great description of the new but odd world of internet friendship. It's strange how close people can become without any actual contact, isn't it?

-
-
Welcome, Mark. So nice to see you here.
Strange, yes! And we even know
the everyday details of the lives
of those with whom we have become close
through the wonders of email and cell phones,
in addition to the communication on sites like AP.
And in our own near-world interaction
we don't have the diversity achieved
by exchanging thoughts with others,
not only all over our own country,
but all over the world.

Such a wonderful way t celebrate friendship!
There are friends (online) that feel like being so close we just forget they don't live next door.
Distance isn't in anyway a barrier to real sentiments.
Simply lovely poem Aesthete

-
Thank you, Brida!
And because of the ease of communication,
we most likely "see" an even larger group
of online friends each day than we could
squeeze into our kitchens or livingrooms
if all our near-world friends and family
were to visit every day!
Great truth you expressed that distance
is not a barrier to real sentiments!!!!

She is indeed real! It was intriguing for she only had 13 comments and no poems on site, but then again, neither do I.
But it reminded me of the Bob lady I mentioned who signed up and never returned....but of course Leah has...my guess is, it's a second account she sort of ignores? If I prod and poke at it enough, I'll find out.
Leah will think I'm insane...yay!
-
-
Yay---You are being very Yem!!!!
I don't want her to rue the day
I posted this piece!!!
Insane? No, how about "inzane"?
Seems more fitting for Zany Keystone,
Zany Yem!!!!!As in smart and clever zany!!!
Aesthete -

Nah, I just like to talk silly, I wouldn't annoy Leah, ask Mariza, I'm far too lazy to stalk anyone.
-
-
But inventive and curious!!!!

And now, with permission from Leah,
the mystery unravels!
I met Leah, and also friend Moony on another site
several years ago. When Moony moved to AP I stopped in,
and found I had to register to comment, then,
I moved in, also. Leah stopped in to read my words and
be suportive, private and very nice person that she is. Each of them is now a close friend to me, with the convenience of email and a good cell phone plan! (From the same site friends Summer51 and ltw222 also have moved into AP, as did Pixiestix from my "home" board....and perhaps you will want to check out their "moving-in" pages.)
And now for the other mystery---with permission from
Leah I can now reveal that she is "The Good Samaritan"
who was trying to assist Mother Goose (as told in
"Meals on Wheels for Wildlife"---check that page for
what may be the final chapter of the story. The photos
are by Leah.) I found it interesting that there
were simultaneous bird rescues going on here among
the various members, spanning continents
So, in "Celebrating Friendship" I also celebrate
all new-found friends here, an elegant, intelligent,
super-talented, expressive, intuitive, artistic and
even zany bunch! I am sure each one of you will
find adjectives there that are descriptive of you!
Aesthete
So, I celebrate Mystery Lady Leah and all of you!!!!!!

Ah! Thanks for the info. Now curiosity won't do away with this cat.

I could see you searching unceasingly,
so I thought I would provide all
the pieces to the puzzle!

HEY NOW WHAT IS THIS?
You are giving them our whole history Aesthete...
the comment is half a page long...and you know I am the only one who can use up that much space at one time!!!!
Shoot now they are going to blame me for bringing you here. But I am certainly happy that you have found such a loving bunch of people to have fun with...and you know I am just trying to be funny.
I love you sister of my heart
hugs Moony

Ah, you're the one to blame!

Another mystery unraveled, I've seen your comments on A2000's poetry many times.
Sorry A2000 for talking through you.
I'm discovering all kinds of fun facts.

I'm a bit late in finding this page, and I must say, this is all a bit over-whelming...I am almost speechless. Wow. I'm a pretty quiet person, I guess, and I'm certainly not used to being in the 'spotlight'.
I do think this poem is a good example of how Aesthete specializes in uplifting and applauding her friends. She has a special way of offering praise and encouragement, all part of her own brand of sharing and caring. Aesthete's teaching career probably taught her to look for the good in others and to make a point of commenting on it, often in a most eloquent way.
I'm grateful to be considered a friend of this talented and generous lady. And I thank her for this very special birthday tribute, along with the pretty daffodil drawing. (She remembered my recent remark about planting daffodils.)
Someone once said that one of life's greatest pleasures is found in the making of friends. Whoever said that must have found a great friend like Aesthete.
Thank you, dear friend, for so many kind thoughts and fine words.

And the real Leah stands up!!!
I had hoped you wouldn't mind the attention!
And now...the rest of the story...above.

In my best James Earl Jones: "Leahmcgee, I have found you!"
http://allpoetry.com/leahmcgee

How odd, leah seems to be the near equivilent to my mythical friend:
http://allpoetry.com/radical%20bob
I even eulogized her in a poem once.
-
-
Yem, the voice resonates. I hear it!
ah, but real she is, if you read above.
-
-
So who is this mythical Leah who seems the embodiment of wisdom and yet is as enigmatic and secluded as A2000 at a Republican rally?
Show they face leahmcgee,
appear, show they self to me!

-
-
HAH! I could never be hidden enough
to appear at one of those events!!!!!!
-
-
Wonderful!
and such a pretty picture
-
-
Olivia, thank you!
I've found that colored pencil
renderings don't scan very well,
so I got out the pointy tip markers!

you are such a treasure ...
and you are right when you say that you like to be a cheerleader ... you truly are ... no matter whom you touch by your words, everyone will be transformed and uplifted ...
I am eager to see leah smile, cry, fall into bliss, whatever ...
you are just a gem ...

maa

-
Oh, maa, your words are so sweet.
Indeed, she was surprised!
Thank you, maa.

Yay Leah...whoever you may be. Don't know her, but if you like her I'm sure I would too.

I liked this:
From words on the page,
we learn of personality,
share past-to-present experiences,
understand life in each person's reality.
I kind of thought I was the only one that studied folk that way. It's odd how we build a cyber-skeleton, a frame that we try to re-create the actual person in our minds. It's kind of scary sometimes, would make a great story...maybe I should try it, sorry just thinking out loud...I mean how we form this person, similar, sometimes quite accurate, yet in some way their image is skewed to our way of thinking, and according to what the person wants us to see and so they aren't really who they are, and in some cases...never mind, that is for my short story to tell.
Yay Leah, hopefully she comments here so I can start my analysis of her.

-
-
Yem, love it when you think out loud
upon the page!
Our stitched together image
of a person---from completed
pieces poetic or prose, plus replies
and commentaries, and messages, and
finally the cloice of avatar---can
be very close to reality. Often the
image arrives instantly--and other
times it grows as the view becomes
more and more complex. Ahem, Yem!!!!
Yes, a short story waiting to happen
for you!!
