No matter what we are walking to the end
and it has been this way since the beginning.
The path does not wind and does not have a bend.
We don't know whether we're losing or winning.
St Peter stands his watch at the pearly gate
and I don't know if his book contains my name.
but if it does you know that I will feel great.
If it doesn't I've only myself to blame.
As fate has come closer I have slowed my pace
and I really wish that I could turn around.
I hope the good Lord will find a little grace
and not send me to the great dark underground.
Yet I must accept the coming of what may
and wherever Peter points I must obey.

This is wonderful! I don't see you write many sonnets bit the take in the prompt here is wonderful and spiritual. I like the meter you were able to achieve using 11 syllable lines; I think it's because your rhyme is so good.
Love,
Amera♥
