Today the spring birds
are chirping excitedly
from the nest up high
in the tree that we planted
the summer before your death.
They flit to and fro
from these ten year old branches
That are vibrant green,
reminders of your life force
when you were living with me.
How time passes fast
the chirp of these baby birds
resounding new leaves
Adding new songs in the air
Bringing me your memory

I think this is sooo cool. I like the way you made tanka stanzas. My dad loved birds and I am reminded of him when I hear the birds sing.

A beautiful tanka chain that touched my heart--beautifully woven with images of nature and love! Good luck in the contest!
