Graduation Lament

Covered  Bridge
it stands in the distance
it represents coming and going
the past and the future

Four years ago
we walked across it
about to start  our college life
I didn't know what to expect
or who  I would meet
and who would change my life forever


In less then twenty four hours
we will all cross the bridge again
leaving this place
that we've grown so fond of
down by the river that runs away with our dreams

Tomorrow  I cross that covered bridge
and begin all over again
a new phase of my life
I don't even know where to begin
As I travel down paths of the unknown again


So many songs can relate to the theme of graduation
music is always an infatuation
no matter what the time of year
Seasons of Love reperesents  four years of friendship
and asks  how do you measure a year in the life?
Not to be cheesy but  A Whole New World from Aladdin
kind of fits too
but only the line
"soaring  tumbling freewheeling through an endless diamond sky"
because that's what i'll be doing soon
but the song that  particuarly stands out
is  What I Did For Love  from  A Chorus  Line
because  I certainly  won't forget can't regret what I did for love

Say goodbye to all the good times
but keep them with you always
I know I will
Thanks to all my friends for being there
you've truly changed me for the better
(always remember to WHIP  IT GOOD)

Good luck to the class of 2008
this my lament  as we prepare
to cross that iconic covered bridge
that overlooks  the river that runs runs away with my thoughts
