If I could change the world in a rhyme
I'd start with one bad parent at a time.
Neglecting ya child? Damn that's a crime
You just add to the mountain they climb.
Those so-called dads who won't chip in a dime
They disappear off the earth, it's like they died.
Seeing a young mother in tears - damn I coulda cried
But what can I do, I'm speechless, man I shoulda tried.
What matters is I held you in my arms, it's OK, cry it out
Whatever happens I'm here, wet eyes? Imma dry it out.
Ever stuck on something in life then Imma pry it out.
Cause I hate to always see you sigh and pout.
Treat you as my queen, and present that diamond ring.
That's what I'm about.
This is a turning point in your life, stand tall never cower

When it seems like nothings there, it's ok, things go sour.

A neglected child and a poor single mother
Emotions gone wild with no relief in ya brother.
Only reason you smiled - a beautiful daughter and a lover
That's all you need, you flow like water with another.
Alone in a house, being yelled at - smothered
So you sleep the pain away, seek refuge in your covers
Dying to be accepted do whatever he desire
Cleaning the house only returnin' to its condition prior
He ignorantly yelled unaware of what had transpired
Why can't he see the angel in you, you're far from a liar.
Still somehow a great student, you fly through barbed-wire.
Being strong your whole life you were bound to tire.
But we shall overcome some day we'll hold a ceasefire.
You're a woman, and that's all the strength you need

It's a long road, success isn't guaranteed.
You can't measure success by money, that's called greed.

Sometimes life throws you a cyclone
In your case it's daily a teen livin like you grown
School and a young baby, you're often disowned
You don't feel welcomed in your own home.
It's a shame you can't even talk on the phone
There's no escape even if you did you'd walk all alone
With no money to live all one can do is groan
It's an old philosophy, words don't hurt, just sticks n stones.
But at times you'd rather him just break your bones.
It's hard to take, being verbally abused
Blamed for everything, you're always wrongfully accused.
Their lives are lackin, you're forced to walk in their shoes.
As a child always confused, being misused, paying wrongful dues.
Ignored by parents who only care for the booze.
Wondering where all this hate could come from
An innocent girl you hurt no one treated as a dumb crumb
Tossed to the side like already chewed gum.
So she picks up some rum 'cause pains nothing when numb.
Living in slums deafened by the coming drum
Never fear my sugar plum, and believe. We shall overcome.
