All the ducks gathered in the pond,
ones name was Bitty the other Hahn.
Nine all together and one just wasn't right,
for the poor wittle ducky he couldn't fly.
All those swimming so sleek and talking duck that day,
looked over and saw that poor wittle ducky so sad in a way.
His little wings stuck out as though he was ready to leave,
only that poor wittle duckies wings were damaged you see.
Someone left fishing line wadded up at the bank,
someone like me or you who didn't think.
That line got wrapped around that poor wittle ducky one day,
and made him crippled and unable to play.
Often human beings leaves their trash behind,
sometimes they eat plastic which causes them to die.
Others get hooks caught with the leftover bait there,
and the poor wittle ducky dies so I ask who would dare.
Poor wittle ducky swims in circles all day,
for that piece of fishing string is holding his legs.
His wings are in pain and in time they will die,
yet who sticks around to see the tears in the duckies eyes.
All the other duckies say quack quack have a great day,
yet this little duckie says hack hack for his throat aches.
And did you know that this little ducky is in danger indeed,
for prediters look upon him for now he is easy prey you see.
So if your out camping or fishing ,"do beware",
and leave not one single piece of trash there.
Keep the critters about safe for you see ,
they have to depend on you and me.
Author notes
This pic is of a duck in the river walk that has been damaged wings because of fishing line left behind. He will never use his wings again and will most likely be killed by predetors for he can no longer fly away . Be careful and also watch others along the way.

This poem really drives the point home that people really should think about the damage that their careless thoughtfulness can do to animals. It's so very sad. Thank you for writing a poem that shows the unnecessary suffering of these poor creatures. All it takes is for people to think! Such an awful fate; a slow, painful death. How would they like it?! All people have to do is properly dispose of their trash; and this would be avoided.

Yes, so many animals end up maimed or injured for no reason whatsoever. People are so cruel no one stops to think how they would feel if it happened to them.

Well a sad poem and a warning for us humans to be careful with what we throw away. Now as I am an lover of animals I would have tried to rescue the duck and brought it to safety.
