every harlot was a virgin once
daddy's little girl
put into uncompromising positions of
anger and lust, love and hate
left stalking the streets
feeling like roxanne but wishing for the
opportunity to NOT have to put on the
red light, waiting for your own
gordon to love and embrace you
like a real woman should be
the dreams and ambitions that
assaulted your psyche are now
clouded with pimps, whores, and johns
all who share your yearning and loathing of
fighting to survive in a world that
does not want you because
every harlot was a virgin once
Author notes
"Every harlot was a virgin once" was borrowed from William Blake

Good take on the general workers of the trade.

Interesting subject matter. The first two lines draws in the reader (or at least this reader). I like how you draw on things that are relatable to the reader (roxanne, own gordon).
