All of us here at AP are poets, artists.
We are sensitive souls.
We open our innermost
thoughts to society here.
There is NO need for
slamming or bashing
a fellow artist's work,
even if you don't agree
on their use of whatever
it may be.
Often their words are
expressions of pain,
poetry a means of therapy-
something to keep us sane!
All it takes is one bad apple
to sour the rest of the barrel.
And so I ask you all:
Please, be kind.
Here lie before you
on written page,
cries for help:
lines of attempted suicide
and loneliness,
of rejection and unwantedness.
Why should such troubled souls
be plagued by such unloveliness
of people with issues that
just comment to abuse and to vent
out their own frustrations on others?
I ask these people-
What is wrong with you?!
On this site alone
I myself have received
the occassional slamming comment;
I've even had a death threat.
As an artist, I am sensitive,
I'm empathic-
but why take your problems
out on me?
One week ago, I nearly took
my own life,
and do you know why?
I had exposed my innermost pain
in the expression of poetry
as a means of therapy.
And what happened?
Of course! You know already.
In my unstable state I let
the hateful comments of
others get to me.
It was too overwhelming.
Well, *bunny*, I'm back
with a vengance, and
I'm determined that it's gonna stop.
One by one, individually-
So to all of you who read this poem,
I ask you to keep in mind
for future comments next time:
*bunny*! PLEASE be kind!
Author notes
I am sick and tired of finding nasty comments on poems (not just my own, mind you) from people who have nothing better to do than bash the work of others! If ya don't have anything nice to say,
DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!
In a list
Tough love hurts, don't it?

I believe you have decided to embrace love. First, one must love themselves. We are, as children, very suseptable to the power of words. Be sure to give your own self, words out loud of love, acceptance, worth, possibilities. Seeds to grow, coming from your own mouth. Avoid even thinking about that permanent solution to a very temporary problem. Pray, Jesus, show me how much you love me...
Then listen. It may take days of prayer, just that one thought...
Then you will have the love to give to others. to forgive, and love, even those whose words have hurt so badly.
If you decide to love, you donn't get to hate. You love people where they are- where else can they be? Does God require us to clean up ourselves before we approach him? Separate behavior from the person.
Wishing you the best. -
I can add little to what has already been said, except to endorse your message wholeheartedly. I may occasionally disagree with someone else's point of view or expressed ideas, in which case I might say so, but I would never denigrate. I always leave comments, even if not moved in some way (in which case I susually leave a trite "nice job" and move on) Please don't leave this world or this site, as I enjoy your work and find it to be beautiful and often quite thought provoking.

i completely agree with this, some people are just so unconsiderable. i have experienced this so many times on AP...lolz..*bunny*! what i do with my poems if they change all the curse words is that i write something like f--k instead that way it won't show as bunny.
thank you for entering and good luck

Indeed It Does.
K, I agree with all you have written, I can't deny that. You have taken a different approach to my contest. Not the way I intended however. This poem doesn't need explaining. It has a bold and clear message which is always nice. But I was hoping for more profound poems that many people have a hard time understanding and perhaps bash them merely because they don't understand them, which is never appropriate and I have had a few times. I try not to take it to heart and I have explained a couple of mine to some people and when I did they understood it and were more appreciative towards it. Either way not quite whatI was looking for but you "enlightened" me in a different way. So thank you! Good message, good job.

man, oh man.
I know what you mean.
I had to block someone just because
all Perception (a girl) was saying
pretty much was my poems are shit--
in bigger words. She didn't like them
because I didn't write them like her.
I just comment truthfully and
enjoy the poems.
And I had to say you just
wrote something that would be
great for a nomination for
the spot light.

What you say is sooooo true. I try to always be tactful, but some people here think their s#%$ don't stink. But hey, these people aren't anything compared to my family so I am used to it. It is sad that people feel the need to be mean. I am glad you decided to take a stand.

its true and some people just dont care about no one just themself

good point.

awwwwwwwwww
You are so right. I have seen so much of this on here. A true poet would understand the power of words for good or evil. Im glad you didnt hurt yourself. What you said here is so true and I am glad you said it. God bless you and keep on writing, Mark

dear jenny,
I have just received an enlightening message from a friend of mine - I would like to share it with you :
"The Buddha went to a Brahman's house for alms, and the Brahman insulted him at length. Buddha refused to accept it, and left the insults on the doorstep."
I sincerely pray that you will have the force and determination to refuse those "poisoned apples" offered by those who are unconscious and might not know better ...
eliminating your precious body won't arrange anything, my dear one ... so please leave it alone
... I have read a wonderful poem by poet page turner yesterday, here is an extract :
"I pray for the courage
and patience
to be strong enough
to allow myself
to be weak enough
to keep my heart open
for sustenance
to fill this skeletal frame
I breathe and wait ..."

please jenny, don't shut down, "vengance" might not be a beneficial response to such situations ... neither for the other person, nor for you ... you know better than that, my dear one ...
will keep you in my thoughts,

marion
