No rest for the weary
No relief for the afflicted
Fatigue consuming every body part
Making each limb feel like lead
Heavy head
Too heavy to hold up
Eyes prickling
Like they've been sprinkled with salt
Nothing to do but succumb
so the enveloping darkness
sleep, deeply and darkly
Sometimes I wish I could sleep forever
Don't wake me
Just leave me in the darkness
Forever
I have to get up, but can't
Fatigue holds me down
Like I'm strapped to the bed
There is work to do
Children need me
Washing, cleaning, meals to prepare
I just want to sleep forever
Last week was fine
Next week will be too
But this week it got me
It grabbed hold and wouldn't let go
Sleep, drowning into sub conciousness
Please leave me in the darkness
Forever
Author notes
I have Hashimoto's Disease which is no biggy, easily treatable and not a problem, but some weeks the fatigue just gets me, its different to normal fatigue and I dont' get it often, usually just if I've been a little more busy and stressed than usual.

It's true that we all have our crosses to bear. You seem to have more energy than any five people I know put together, so it's a surprise to hear that you suffer from fatigue. I'm not worried, though. From what I've gathered about you during our friendship so far, you won't let anything keep you down for long.

Thats exactly right Mark!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
