Mourning Dove

Day break
Flutter of wings
Cooing of broken heart
Singing lover’s song of sadness
Lament

Lonely
Crying from beak
Perched upon branch of elm
Gray feathers watch death interment
Lost love

Weeping
Wails from within
Sobbing woeful wet tears
The passing of souls fills your breast
Forgive

Forlorn
Repeating verse
Painful resonant sound
Vespers sung to receptive ears
Praying

Pleading
Accepting loss
Remember visions kept
Swooping drift to your wooded roost
Sunset

Wonderful use of the cinquain to describe the mourning dove. It makes me wonder for whom does the dove cry?
