Turquoise water viewed through Ray-Ban lenses;
worn-out chaise fits my ass like a glove.
A perfect day, a feast for all my senses-
a beach breeze is blowing, only blue sky above.
A fine hot day, sweat rolls off my chest
and off the bottle of Corona in my hand.
All alone and relaxed, my mind is at rest-
just me, the ocean, sun, wind, and sand.
Then the alarm rings, and my eyes open wide;
momentarily disoriented, realization slow.
I look out my window at the deep drifts outside-
(sigh) just another damn day in January's snow.
