A flint strikes
Releasing sparks
To ignite a new love
Causing an inferno
The silhouette of my soul
Burns within the flames
Dancing inside the fire
My essence engulfed in the blaze
Consumed by my passion
Flames soaring higher
The heat too strong for
Anyone else to come near
Time burns away the fuel
Leaving a single dying flame
Barely holding on
Only to be smothered by sorrow

I hate the way this poem made me feel, in a good way if you know what I mean, you captured such pain in these lines and I could relate so easily. Well done. Best to you in the contest

Yo, I was surprised it ended unhappily. It had good metaphors and it sums up a lot of love stories. Its nice. Didn't really grip me or anything but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Thanks for entering in my bed.

Wow this is really good. I like how in the begining it is all firey and you think it will turn out well but in the end it does not. I am sorry but flames do aften die out. Beautiful poem. Thank you for this amazing entry!
