A warm glittery spring day,
the sun casting eery shadows.
Something wasn't right,
but we thought nothing of it.
His quiet ways
and sometimes obsecure comments,
but again...
we thought nothing of it.
His strong hands
and gentle soul
crafty ideas in his head...
But...we thought nothing of it.
The images of Vietnam
still stuck in his head,
bombs exploding
children dying
what he went through...
but we thought nothing of it.
His strange comment to his Auntie
the day before
"We're going to go to the store tomorrow,
right Ma?" He said...
She thought nothing of it.
Pretending everything was ok,
when inside of his head,
he was planning,
trying to sort out the thoughts
in his head.
He thought something of it.
He didn't mean to hurt anyone,
he didn't mean to cause pain...
after all the world caused his pain.
He was trying to silence the trauma
of his world.
When the pills and the talking stopped working
He did what he thought was best.
Don't begrudge him for making this painful decision,
don't cast him off as a poor soul.
He went to heaven and he's at peace...
He will forever be missed.
And that is something we thought something of.
Author notes
Today's my cousins anniversary of his suicide. I miss him terribly but don't judge him because of his decision.

I am so sorry for what you have to go through. I have lost a loved one too, and it always hurts a lot to remember.
I am sure you have the strength to live through this.
this is a heartbreaking write. The pain was always there in every word, every line. you have an amazing gift for writing
I am sure he is proud of you.

At such a young age it's remarkable that impact it had on me. It was very traumatic because he came over all the time and he was a joy to be around. He was a very big guy bu quiet and soft spoken. I have the memories and that is what is most important.
Thank you for reading

Such a sad write. Suicide is a hard thing to deal with, especially when it's someone you knew very well. My best friend committed suicide when we were in 8th grade. She called me and said, "Myles I need to talk to you" My brother was in town and i said i was busy and hung up. That was the last time i talked to her. You have a good job with imagery and painting a picture. Well done!!

Good Poem.
"We thought nothing of it." I don't think that any of us really know the other. It is very sad that your cousin commited suicide. This poem is an excellent tribute to him.
