she was raw, the colors started to show outside on her skin.
leaking bronze, the color of her back, red for the spots on her fingers from pushing down so hard. squeaky white and yellow, the color of a bathing suit. her plaid shorts, blue, green, sometimes violet in the right light.
strewn across the lawn like a puppet; she was pink, the tip of her nose, maroon for her hair when the sun hit the top. sunglasses, black-lens of awkward beige; you peered through them and the trees evaporated into the dirt. lies, fell onto the stretched limbs, telling secrets that were never true. brand new playing in your mind, a thousand and one stories we broke into a single verse.
i was beautiful before, in years gone by. when we still knew how to laugh, and our teeth would show through without stains from the nicotine and redbull we indulged in so carelessly. my stomach shriveled and then expanded; breathing in and out for me when my lungs just couldn't do the job anymore. i felt so aware, so obvious. my tentative looks shot across the room at you and i shrunk-for everywhere i looked there was another piece of you.
my legs hung about my body, like ice on the side of ships, chipping away with every lift; my strength was gone and
i had no will to love you anymore.

Aw this is just amazing. I'm tragic at giving reviews so nothing I can say will do this justice.
Just know that I absolutely ADORE it. Especially the last stanza- it's magic <3

wonderful bit of prose poetry here. Images speak in a tumbled way, telling a story that is both melancholy and heartfelt. An enjoyable read that feels like a beginning, as if more should follow, although the last line does carry the weight of finality. Nicely done.
