March

March with me
Hold your banner
Let it fly
Let's change this planet
You and I
It's a case of do or die

March with me
Hold your flag
Of Black and White
Let it fly
Let's turn a corner
You and I
It's a case of asking why

Why the sun shines on the corpses
Of our murdered fellow men
Why the rain turns pink with bloodshed
That we'll doubtless see again

March with me
Don't cross the street
Face the fascists
Feel the heat

Short and sweet. It puts me more in the mind set of lyrics than poetry, but that's far from a bad thing. The short lines and the message sound like a march. I think it's a fitting poem for May 8th. I'm glad I had a chance to read it.

    Good luck writing,
    Nocturne

  • This poem is powerful and challenges the reader to do something, it is an amazing write. With out such skilled control of words ti wouldn't have worked near as well as it does. Beautiful.

Outstanding, BabyBun. So deeply felt yet taughtly argued. Question "Who murdered our fellow-men? Them as killed them or them as sent them?"
A point "facist" should read "fascist"

    You've outdone yourself!!!!!

This is the first poem ever that brought me to tears. It's your best work without a doubt! "Why the sun shines on the corpses of our murdered fellow men"? I think of Emmett Till and what he would've accomplished if that bigot and his bastard brother hadn't killed him at 14 years-old! "Why the rain turns pink with bloodshed that we'll doubtless see again". Sean Bell and his two friends were shot to pieces on a Harlem street. I'm sure the rain washed whatever blood they spilled off their bodies. Of course, Bell was the one who died. The other two were maimed. Stephanie, I'm joining you on this journey to speak out! Together, we could spark conversation from thousands across the seas. Those thousands will become millions. I would still love to collaborate on a project with you!
