Return of the Lass

Missing image

Hearken to me my child
For you will I relate
A tale of woods gone wild
A tale of monstrous fate

There once was a time gone past
‘Fore the Satyr cast his spell
When like you I was a lass
Dreamt of love, no faults to tell

Came the day of Mandar’s ascent
His coat of flames burning our face
Evil he was, from Hell ‘twas sent
Striving to stay in Satan’s grace

There on the hill spread his coat of flames
The demons spewed forth calling his name
Changed us all into cancerous things
Said to us, “You’ll never be the same”

But Mandar forgot just one little thing
We still had souls! Though our features be hexed
Though brute, in our hearts no evil did reign
We prayed for freedom, our young minds perplexed

Lo! Then one day came a lass like you
Looking much the way I used to look
Somehow escaped from the Devil’s shrew
Locket in hand his wrath you forsook

Spun her locket the flames went out
Casting about an eerie sound
He named Mandar, she slew that lout
Sending demons back in the ground

Sunbeams danced and clouds peeked free
Grass did grow, new shoots did sprout
All regained except for we
Faces green and bodies stout

“I’ll be back!”, she did say
“Take you back to your past”
Wonder now I must pray
Wouldst be you, my young lass?
