"Today is a special day."
The teacher announced to the class.
"It's only Mother's day," replied the boy,
"What's so special about that?"
A girl in the back of the class,
Raised her hand up high,
"It's a time when I give Mommy presents,
To thank her for being mine."
As the class spoke of Mother's Day,
And what the fuss is all about,
A girl alone at her desk,
Took a paper out.
At the top she wrote "Thank You"
And addressed it to her mom,
And then she wrote about herself,
And everything she's done wrong.
The time she'd hit her brother,
Or when she'd lost her shoe,
The first lie she'd told,
Which somehow, Mommy knew.
And after she filled out her list,
She looked over everyone.
She flipped her paper over,
And thought about her Mom.
She sat for quite awhile,
Trying to think of something her Mother had done,
That had distraught or upset her,
Yet couldn't think of one.
So little Jen raised her hand up high,
Ready to talk about what she had missed.
And when the teacher asked her what she loved about her mother,
She simply handed her the list.
"What's this?" The teacher asked her, peering at her paper.
"All the things I've done wrong." Little Jen replied.
"That one was the worst one,
The part where I lied."
"But that doesn’t answer my question,"
The teacher said patiently,
"How does this show you love your Mother,
Or is it an apology?"
"All those things I've done wrong,
She forgave me for everyone,
Yet when I thought of what Mommy did wrong,
I couldn't think of none."

Best Mother's Day Poem I've Read
Wow, this is defentily the best Mother's Day Poem I've Read. I love how you make it into a story, but it's not all over the place, it has structure, 4 live versus where the 2nd and 4th lines ryhme.
It's a happy poem, and yet has that thing in it that makes you want to cry because of the love the mother and daughter share.
"All those things I've done wrong,
She forgave me for everyone,
Yet when I thought of what Mommy did wrong,
I couldn't think of none."
That really brings it home.
You love your mom because of her forever forgiving love, and theres not one thing you can think of that she's done wrong to you.
Your mom will always loven and cherish this poem, making it from a little girl will make her think of the days she did your hair for school and you were her little "Cupcake Girl"
I like how you added her pet name for you in the author's notes.
Way cute.
Most amazing poem, should be in a hallmark card.
